Fixed Range Volume Profile for BTC: Three Defensible Anchoring Windows
Fixed Range Volume Profile lets you define the sample, which is both its strength and risk. If boundaries move freely, POC and value area can be made to appear almost anywhere.
Build the chart or workflow
Use three repeatable windows: a complete swing low to high, the start of a clear balance to its breakout, or a major event window from the prior day until price stabilizes.
How to interpret the result
A swing profile tests whether pullbacks accept prior value; a balance profile tests whether a breakout leaves value; an event profile tests whether new business forms beyond the old cost area.
Common failure modes
Combining several regimes into one huge profile buries recent information. Rebuilding on every new bar removes falsifiability.
A repeatable checklist
- Name the range type
- fix boundary rules
- save the initial screenshot
- do not move it without structure change
- create a new profile only after a new balance forms
Can this be used as a standalone trading signal?
No. Treat it as one piece of context. Price structure, liquidity, execution cost, and a predefined invalidation point still decide whether a trade is justified.
When should the setup be checked again?
Recheck whenever the symbol, exchange feed, interval, session definition, or indicator input changes. Those choices can materially change what the chart shows.
